What king tides do
King tides are the highest predicted tides of the year, typically in the fall. In Fort Lauderdale, they can push water over low seawalls and up through storm drains, even on sunny days.
Where walls are most exposed
Low caps, cracked panels, open joints and blocked weep holes all let king tide water in. Areas along the Intracoastal and the isles off Las Olas tend to see it first.

Permitting and scheduling take time. Owners who start in spring or summer have the best chance of finishing before the fall tides.
