No two walls price the same
Seawall pricing varies widely because every wall is a different age, construction type and condition. A small void fill and a full rebuild on a deep-water lot are completely different projects. The most useful thing you can do is understand what moves the number.
The biggest cost factors
These are the variables contractors weigh when building an estimate:
- Linear footage of the frontage
- Repair type: void filling, cap work, tiebacks or full replacement
- Access: land access versus barge work from the water
- Water depth and soil conditions, including limestone
- Required cap elevation under city rules
- Permitting, engineering and environmental review
- Dock, lift and landscaping removal and reinstallation
Repair now vs. replace later
Targeted repairs are usually far less expensive than replacement, but they only make sense if the wall is structurally sound. Delaying repairs on a wall with active soil loss can turn a manageable job into a rebuild.
Getting an accurate number
The only reliable price comes from an on-site assessment. Request an estimate with photos and a description of what you're seeing to speed up the process.
